Installing
Rock Sliders
I have pretty good fabricating skills, but when it came to the time/cost of
building rock sliders, I decided to bite the bullet and buy some. The
sliders I decided on were from Atlantic British and cost $330. My initial
impression of them was that I got what I paid for. They were poorly made,
were about 1 1/2" too short, some of the mounting holes were not tapped
properly, and they supplied me with hardware that was too long. It was
late on Friday, so I decided to try and mount them anyway.

 I had already
removed the original steps. |
 Here is the
slider and the rear mounting bar. |
 The bar that
mounts to the rear outrigger was well made and was even galvanized. |
 The first
step was to remove the sills. It's pretty easy, just lots of bolts. |
 The rear
mount just slides in the outrigger and gets secured with a long bolt on the
inside of the frame. |
 Then the
slider just mounts to the front outrigger and the rear galvanized mount.
The bottom of each fender flare then bolts to the slider. |
 And here is
the final install. These sliders included the common holes for jacking
points. |
