Dropping in the Heart & Soul

Separating the intake and exhaust manifolds commonly leads to broken bolts.

I simply thread on a nut, then weld it on using a lot of heat....

...then just remove the bolt.

The heat riser is seized in the exhaust manifold.

I use the plasma cutter to cut the shaft, then remove the flapper, then pound out the remaining out shafts and bushings.

The engine arrived today from the rebuilder and is dropped into the frame.

I pulled the head to inspect the rebuilders work and to find top dead center before installing the flywheel.

The resurfaced flywheel is installed.

Then the clutch.

Then the transmission, transfer case and rear driveshaft.

The Warn overdrive gets bolted up next.

Then the PTO adapter and PTO.

Here's another shot of the PTO.

Starting to look like a Jeep again!!

The clutch and associated hardware gets bolted up.

New fuel pump.

Finally the water pump and fan gets installed.

The freshly high-temp podwercoated exhaust manifold gets a new heat riser kit.

The intake and exhaust gets bolted on, along with the rebuilt carb.

The right side of the engine shows the sweet bright orange powdercoated oil filter canister, rebuilt starter and generator, new coil, distributor with all new parts, and new plugs and wires.

The exhaust kit was installed and required a little modification to clear all the PTO components.
